City to Hold Midtown Streetscape Information Meeting
The City of Roswell will hold an informational meeting concerning its Midtown Streetscape Project on Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Roswell City Council Chambers, 38 Hill Street.
The City will discuss the project’s status, its timeline, the GDOT approval process, the consultant’s scope of work, and future planned meetings regarding curb cut consolidations.
The project, which stretches along Highway 9 from Norcross Street to Holcomb Bridge Road, is part of the City’s plan to invest in the infrastructure along the corridor as a catalyst for redevelopment in the area.
The project stems from the Midtown Redevelopment Study, which was coordinated by the City’s Redevelopment Task Force and chaired by Councilwoman Lori Henry. The Study was completed by the consultant firm of Glatting & Jackson and adopted by the Mayor and City Council in January 2003.
As a result, the City was awarded $2.2 million from the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Center’s Initiative to be applied to the cost of sidewalk improvements, installation of bicycle lanes, landscape improvements, and other street beautification and pedestrian safety improvements. Approximately $1 million of combined City and federal Community Development Block Grants will also be contributed for a total project cost of $3.356 million.
