Construction to occur on Azalea Drive

Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2004, the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Roswell Transportation Department will be repairing a bridge along Azalea Drive just east of the Willeo Road intersection. This bridge is in need of emergency repairs. The most efficient method of construction is to disassemble parts of the bridge, repair it, and then reassemble it. Because of this work, Azalea Drive will be closed for approximately one month. Only local traffic (residents who live along Azalea Drive) will be allowed.

In addition to the emergency repairs, the bridge needs to be modified to accommodate road improvements for the Roswell Riverwalk. Incorporating the repairs and improvements in the same project eliminates the need of closing the road twice. The Roswell Riverwalk is a planned five-mile linear park/trail system from Don White Park to Willeo Road along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
