My Day Trip to the North Georgia Mountains
Hi! It's me, Chrissy, with a review of an excellent day trip to the North Georgia mountains!
Jevon, (my "co-pilot"), and I set out for Blairsville, Georgia on Thursday, 8/21/2003.
Destination: Highland Falls Bed -n- Breakfast.
Here's our story:
We left Atlanta around 1:30 in the afternoon and arrived in Blairsville at 3:30 p.m. We were actually looking for a sign that said "Highland Falls," but to no avail, we were stumped. We turned around three times until finally, I called the B -n- B for further information on how to find them!
We laughed so hard because we now know there's a technical college there (since we turned around three times), and that there is a Coosa Creek, also! Coosa is the word we use now to make each other laugh. (You know, that "kid" type "word-game-stuff" we used to do when we were younger - - - well, I still play the "word-game-stuff," now)!
We called Highland Falls and found out that the sign was no longer there, so we were NOT going crazy! It sure was funny, though!
We arrived at Highland Falls Bed -n- Breakfast and were greeted with open arms from hosts Pete and Jeanie Bullock.
After a short tour of their B -n- B, we headed upstairs to our room, turned the satellite tv on and did what we had set out to do ---> absolutely "nothing!"
This is the room we stayed in...
"The Smith Room."
We lounged for a few hours and then headed into downtown Blairsville for a bite to eat. Our choices at 9 p.m. were Burger King, McDonald's, and KFC! We chose Burger King! How romantic!
It was quiet and relaxing - we were the only people there.
We drove back to the B -n- B on the dark and curvy roads and went outside on the porch to sit in the rocking chairs under the stars, moon, and the planet Mars. I only brought binoculars with me so we couldn't really see much of Mars but it was better than the naked eye. So, I tried looking and couldn't see the "red" planet at all - it was very blurry. Jevon kept saying, "Just keep looking--- look higher and you will see it." I tried to see but everything was still so blurry. Then he said, "Why don't you try turning them around?" I was cracking up laughing - he knew the whole time I was holding the binoculars backwards and just found humor in watching me. Nice guy, huh?
The hardwood floors in this wonderful bed -n- breakfast were immaculate. So shiny, so clean, SO SLIPPERY. Need I say more? I almost busted my butt three times! It was quite funny.
Later, Jevon decides he wants to give me a piggy-back ride up to the room. All I could imagine was us falling down the staircase - needless to say, we made it up the steps! No problems at all!
When you visit a place for the first time, I really believe it's should be all about the "memories" you can create with someone. We had a great time and we were only gone for a day! I guess you can say it's the company you keep that can make it GREAT.
Let's talk about the breakfast, now.
Jeanie was up at 8:00 a.m., cooking up a storm in the kitchen! It smelled awesome! She made fresh blueberry muffins, a fresh-cut fruit cup, spinach, egg and cheese quiche, fresh-picked blackberries with milk, hash browns, and bacon! WOW. What a delightful breakfast! YUMMY.
We checked out around 11:00 a.m. and headed home to Atlanta. Our hosts were such nice people - we will have to go back when we have more time. They offer a lot of different fun activities, like feeding apples to the horses, you can go trout fishing in a nearby pond, or go horseback riding (fee).
If you ever want a quick "getaway," give Pete and Jeanie a call, toll free at (866)-295-7373. You will not be disappointed! If you have any other bed -n- breakfast questions, e-mail me - I am the connoisseur of bed -n- breakfasts!
See you on my next adventure!
